We (Maxine and Tene) planned to launch this mindfulness project with young people in schools until we were all hit by COVID-19.
But, as we are currently in lockdown, we had a rethink about what we can do to help support and empower the millennials like ourselves through this epidemic and thought.. "well, we do have the power of the internet, lets provide virtual mindfulness sessions to those in need of mental health support."
The Vision:
To create a membership platform for us millennials to be able to access professionals and experts, including psychotherapists, financial educators, body confidence coaches, counsellors etc who will be invited onto some of the sessions to share their expertise and deliver workshops so that we can get the help we need, be inspired, educated and encouraged to practice healthy habits without having to pay an extortionate amount to access these professionals separately or be left on waiting lists to see a psychotherapist for months on end.
The series of workshops will help attendees understand different self-care practices, improve their financial wellbeing, arm them with the skills to combat unexpected obstacles and teach them how to make their self-talk work for them, and not against them.
Value Proposition:
- Boosted self-confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.
- Improved self-awareness and stress management techniques to strengthen productivity for better mental health, clarity and inner peace.
- Enhanced financial wellbeing.
- Increased understanding of how to identify feelings and emotions, process them and cope with them as they arise.
UK Current Statistics:
In a survey by the mental health charity YoungMinds, which included 2111 participants up to age 25 years with a mental illness history in the UK, 83% said the pandemic had made their conditions worse. 26% said they were unable to access mental health support; peer support groups and face-to-face services have been canceled.
Rachael Pells, Education Correspondent in The Independent has stated, "British millennials have the second-worst mental wellbeing in the world... and the equivalent of three pupils in every classroom is said to suffer from a diagnosable mental health condition."
