I have been a hairdresser for over 15 years but sadly after an accident in 2018 I struggled standing for long periods of time which meant having to significantly reducing my working hours as a freelance hair stylist. During recovery I turned to my hobby of Silversmithing as my creative output. I continued to fall deeper in love with the craft and decided this year that I would like to make it my full time job. As a single parent it gives me the flexibility of working around the children's school hours and managing the symptoms of my injury.
I got into Silversmithing after writing a bucket list of the things I would love to do and have never got around to doing. I went on a short course for beginners Silversmithing in April 2017 and loved it. I continued on a few further courses and began to slowly build up a collection of tools at home which helped me get more practice gradually building up my confidence and expertise. I love being able to turn my ideas in to wearable art for all to see.
All of my designs are inspired by everyday life be it a tree, shape of a button, something in a book I have read but mostly from my love of astronomy, art and different cultures.
The money I raise will be used to buy the last of the equipment that I need such as a pendant motor that will make polishing and finishing pieces easier and faster. To buy materials to make the jewellery, branded eco-friendly packaging, marketing material and a garden building that I can use as a studio.
My vision is to build a brand that is fun, unique and producing great quality jewellery for everyone, men women and children. This venture will enable me to have the flexibility I need for my family, to be creative and build a viable business to support my family.
